William Thomas “Tom” Langley, age 76, passed away Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Wilson County, he was the son of the late Elijah Clifton Langley and Texie Leona Lewis Langley and was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Debra Kay Langley and his brother, Joseph Clifton Langley. Tom was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. Tom will be remembered as a good husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
A service to celebrate Tom’s life will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Daughtry officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with military honors. The family will greet friends Saturday one hour prior to the service at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
Tom is survived by his wife, Linda Casey Langley; a daughter, Tracey Langley Bowens and husband, Gary of Goldsboro; a step son, Wayne Wade of Durham; his brother, Talmadge Paul Langley of Mulberry, FL; a sister, Ruth Kennedy of Augusta, GA; his grandchildren, Brandon & Andrew Wade of Durham, Aubrey & Kaylyn Bowens of Goldsboro and Jared Faircloth; and his great grandchildren, Mattie & Dixie Wade of Durham.
