Wesley Richardson Obituary

Wesley Ray Richardson, 85, of Goldsboro, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 31, 1940, Wesley lived a life marked by dedication, quiet strength, and enduring kindness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Debrasker Richardson and Willie Inez Henderson Richardson, and by his beloved daughter, Diane Richardson, who passed on August 3, 2018.
Wesley proudly served his country as a Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, dedicating over 30 years of honorable service before retiring. Throughout his military career, he was stationed at multiple bases, forming lifelong friendships and carrying out his duties with discipline, integrity, and pride.

On April 10, 1981, he married the love of his life, Kuei Mei “Katy” Richardson. Together they built a life grounded in devotion, companionship, and simple joys. Wesley cherished their time together—whether walking through Berkeley Mall, enjoying a movie at the theater, or relaxing at home.

He had a love for sports, especially basketball and football, and enjoyed watching games on television. Golf was another pastime that brought him peace and satisfaction. Known for being organized, calm, and unfailingly kind, Wesley left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

In his later years, Wesley embraced a quiet and peaceful life at home. After being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2013, he was cared for with extraordinary love and dedication by his wife, Katy. Nurses and caregivers often remarked on the exceptional level of care and devotion he received, a true testament to the bond they shared.

Wesley is survived by his wife, Kuei Mei “Katy” Richardson of the home, his sons, Gary  Ray Richardson Sr, (Cathy) of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, and Thomas C. Doyle (Suzet Joubert-Doyle) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his cherished grandchildren, Gary Ray Richardson, Jr., Ryan Joseph Richardson, Christopher Carroll, Matthew Carroll, and Hunter E. Doyle; and his great-grandchildren, Gary Ray Richardson III, Ryan Reed Richardson, Noah Lee Carroll, and Collins JoAnn Richardson. His Brother Wayne A. Richardson and his wife Elizibeth Richardson and niece Angela Tuttle and her husband J. T. Tuttle.

He also leaves behind his lifelong close friend, Robert Hensely of Tennessee, whose friendship was a constant source of support and connection through the years.
Wesley will be remembered for his steady presence, his gentle spirit, and the deep love he held for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories that will be treasured always.
