Vera Jane (Brinkley) Walters

Vera Jane Brinkley Walters, 76, of Dudley passed away Friday at Goldsboro Assisted Living. Born in Grand Junction, CO, she was the daughter of the late John and Nellie Brinkley and was the wife of the late Floyd Lee Walters. She was a retired shift leader for Del Monte. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, reading, drawing, painting, crafts, and she was a great cook, especially baking bread, doughnuts, or fudge.

A memorial service will be held Friday, at 6:00 pm at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Murray officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mrs. Walters is survived by her son, John Walters and wife, Sabrina; her daughters, Cynthia Igou and Jinnette Richardson both of Oklahoma; brothers, Don Brinkley of Iowa and Larry Brinkley of Texas; a sister, Irene Long of California; grandchildren, Alexis Walters, Nancy Grady, Bradley Walters, Sammy Grady, and Audree Walters; 7 additional grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and two on the way.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Walters.
