Thomas Edward Quinlivan, 79, of Kinston, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
Born on September 13, 1946, in Springfield, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Edward Quinlivan and Edna Grace Flint Quinlivan.
Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Army, retiring with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his military service, he remained deeply committed to his community and was an active member of the American Legion, where he formed many lasting friendships.
He was a devoted family man who found his greatest joy in the company of his loved ones. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Marie Quinlivan and her fiancé, Robert Allen Jones; his beloved fiancée, Sharon Creech Johnson, with whom he shared his home; his granddaughters, Cynthia Dawn Mozingo and her boyfriend Wallace Spencer, and Ashley Nicole Whitmire and her husband Chris; his cherished great-grandchildren, Cynthia Whitmire, Olivia Sutton, and Autumn Whitmire; and his adopted great-grandchild, Elishabet Guzman.
Thomas shared a special bond with Elishabet, treasuring their time together—especially their breakfasts, which brought him great happiness. He also leaves behind his beloved furbabies, Uno and Precious.
Thomas will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and the kindness he extended to those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
