Thomas Knowles, age 90, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, May 2, 2024 and is now in his heavenly home. Born in Sampson County, NC, he was the son of the late Rossie & Blanche Lee Knowles and the husband of the late Shirley Warrick Knowles. He was retired from Morganite Manufacturing Company and was a member of Mt. Carmel Church of God of Prophecy in Autryville, NC for over 50 years.
Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be held Monday, May 6, 2024 at 3:00 pm at the Mt. Carmel Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Bryan Strickland and Bishop Warren Barfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Church of God Cemetery in Autryville, NC. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, May 5, 2024 at the church’s Family Life Center from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and at other times at his home.
He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Frieda Knowles of Dunn, NC; his daughters & sons-in-law, Barbara K. and Ronnie Simmons of Autryville, NC, Vickie K. and Mark Turlington of Clinton, NC; brothers, David Knowles of Autryville, NC and Floyd Knowles of Wilmington, NC; his sister, Carolyn K. Phillips of Newport News, VA; his grandchildren, Keli Sykes (David), Brandon Simmons (Stacy), Krystin Turlington, Kameron Turlington, and Kara Turlington; his great grandchildren, Dylan Sykes, Bayli Sykes, Tenli Sykes, Bryce Simmons and Evelyn Simmons.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sylvia K. Ford; granddaughter, Michelle Simmons; siblings, James Knowles and Hilda W. Paul.
