Stephen “Steve” Wayne Goad, age 66, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC. Born in Lubbock, TX, he was the son of the late Lester Wilson Goad, Jr. and Eva Mae Morgan Goad. Steve was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving our country for 20 years, retiring in 1999 as an E6. After retiring, he enjoyed working at Delmus Hardware as they were known as his beloved work family. Steve lived for his family and friends and will always be remembered for helping all who needed him. He was an amazing “teacher” as he was a “jack of all trades” and could fix anything even being compared to “MacGyver”. He also enjoyed fishing and watching westerns.
The family will be holding a private Celebration of Life service to honor him at a later date.
Steve is survived by his wife & soulmate of 43 years, Vickie J. Goad; his sons, Brandon Wilson Goad (Tiffany) and Corey Jake Goad (Annie); grandchildren, Kaleb Brandon Parker, Kallie Ann Goad, Alex Purcell and Noah Newcomer; half-brother, Jim Silvers Gray Jr.; brother-in-law, Gerald Rollins.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-brother, Jake Ted Gray.
