Shirley Mooring Hill, age 88, passed from her earthly life to her eternal life on July 3, 2023. A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Lee Mooring and Maggie Wethington Mooring.
Shirley is survived by a daughter, Martha H. Leathers of Rosewood; a son, Jeff Hill and wife, Tammy of Rosewood; four grandchildren, Eric Leathers (Kristin) of Mt. Airy, Mark Leathers (Toral) of Odessa, Florida, Dr. Kayla Hill (fiancée, Tim Blevins) of Raleigh, Luke Hill (Nidia) of Rosewood and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Peggy Mooring Jones and sister-in-law, Doris Mooring McFatter and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was a preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Burnice Hill; her daughter, Connie Jane Hill; her sisters, Bobbie Lucille Mooring, Sadie Mooring Wortham, Margie Mooring Jones, Judy Mooring Jones and brothers, Ralph James Mooring and Ray Benton Mooring.
The family will celebrate Shirley’s life on Friday at 9:00 am in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Pastor Kelley Buffaloe officiaitng. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park and the family will greet friends at the grave.
