Roy Glenn Willoughby, 66, of Kenly passed away Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family. He is the son of the late Atlas Glenn and Ella Campbell Willoughby, and is the husband of Sharon Harrell Willoughby. Mr. Willoughby was a member of Niagara Pentecostal Holiness Church, and had worked as a millwright and foreman for Equipment Sales and Services.
A service to celebrate Roy’s life will be held Saturday at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Dye officiating. Entombment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will greet friends Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, and at other times at the home.
Roy is survived by his wife of 11 years, Sharon Harrell Willoughby; a daughter, Rebecca Hope Whitley; sisters, Margie Taylor, Shirley Hargis, and Rose Willoughby; sisters in law, Betty Jo Willoughby and Barbara D. Willoughby; several nieces and nephews; and his fur babies, Millie and Jax.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, Donald, Earl, Bill, and A.G. Willoughby.
