Richard Wade “Rick” Pridgen, age 62, has “Gone Home." Rick was the son of the late Wade High Pridgen, Jr. and the late Gwendolyn Frances Tomlinson and brother of the late Lynda Malpass. Rick was a funeral director with Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home for many years and also in the insurance industry in Wayne County. A member and Deacon at Madison Avenue Baptist Church, Rick was currently the longest serving member of the Wayne County Board of Education with 18 years and served as a past chairman. He was very active in the Boy Scouts and the Tuscarora Council, where he served as Vice President and had been continuously registered in scouting since the age of six.
Rick was well known as a singer having sung for many years with the NC Baptist Singers and Orchestra. He also sung on several tours with the Getty’s and was in The Child of the Promise locally each year. Rick was a Past Master of the Wayne Masonic Lodge #112.
A service to celebrate the well lived life of Rick will be held Sunday at 2:00 pm at Madison Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Street officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall for a time of remembering and sharing with the family.
Rick is survived by his wife, Allison S. Pridgen; a son, Richard W. Pridgen, Jr. and his wife, Megan Loughran Pridgen; a daughter, Harriet Alden Pridgen and her fiancée, Richard Logan Peck; and his grandchild, Roisin Frances Pridgen.
