Ret. CMSGT Herman Brock Obituary

Herman Lewis Brock, 83, of Four Oaks, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2022, following his six year journey living with dementia. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Millie; daughters, Janet Wright (Mark), Karen Smith (Ken), Sherrie Foreman (JC Cherry); one son, Derek Brock; granddaughters, Cailin Richardson (Stephen), Keeley Wright, Brandie Smith, Jenna Lane (Matt), Amanda Guthrie, and Delayna Guthrie; grandsons, Tripper Foreman, Ryan Guthrie, and Todd Guthrie; eleven great grandchildren; brother George Brock (Jan); sister-in-law Janice Machalski (Eddie); devoted neice, Linda Denning,  and other beloved neices, nephews, and cousins; and devoted friends, Henry & Arneda Watson, and Craig & Jane Beagle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley & Cuzzie Brock; four siblings, Edmund Brock, Vernie Brock, Esther Jackson, and Betty Jean Elliott; and one son, Randy Guthrie, Jr.

Herman joined the Virginia Air National Guard February 9, 1957, and proudly served for "34 years, 10 months, and 23 days" as he would so often say. He retired January 10, 1992, having achieved the rank of Chief Master Sargeant. Herman loved the Lord, and was a member of Jordans Chapel Baptist Church. He loved his family and his many friends. Herman always loved helping others. During his retirement, he served with the Mattaponi Volunteer Rescue Squad in King William, Virginia, for five years. He was best known for his Pig Roasts and secret BBQ sauce. Herman and his wife, Millie, enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Virginia Dance Association for nine years, traveling in their motorhome, and camping at Water's Edge and Twin Lakes Campgrounds in North Carolina.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 11:00am at Jordan's Chapel Baptist Church, 5663 US Hwy 13S., Mt. Olive, North Carolina.
