A much, loved daughter, sister, and aunt, Essie Rena Barfield, age 47, of Clayton, North Carolina, passed away on December 20, 2024. She was born on July 13, 1977 in Goldsboro, North Carolina. She graduated from Midway High School and received a BA from Mount Olive University and a MA from Campbell University. She dedicated her career to counseling and served as a school Guidance Counselor in Johnston, Wake, and Sampson Counties.
She is survived by her father, Bishop Warren (Sam) Harding Barfield & mother, Priscilla (Pat) Louise Barfield, of Dunn, North Carolina; sister Tonia Barfield Parrish & husband, Gardner Sherrill Parrish of Zebulon, North Carolina; brother, Warren Barfield, Jr. & wife, Megan of Columbia, Tennessee; brother, Jeffrey Barfield & wife, Beth of Dunn, North Carolina. Rena fiercely loved and enjoyed spoiling her nieces and nephews, Hayden Parrish, Arden Parrish, Montgomery Barfield, Ada Beth Barfield, Everett Barfield, and Eden Rose Barfield.
Rena will be remembered for the love and laughter she shared with everyone she knew. The happiest days of her life were spent sharing the gospel and love of Jesus with the sing group, Third Promise. She is now singing with the Angels.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Mount Carmel Church of God of Prophecy in Autryville, North Carolina on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 11:00 am.
