Rebecca Gurley Harrell

Rebecca “Becky” Gurley Harrell, age 74, passed away Wednesday at Lower Cape Fear Life Care in Wilmington, NC.  Born in Wayne County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Earl G. and Gertrude Pender Gurley.  She was the wife of the late Gordon “Don” E. Harrell, Jr.  A retired Secretary with Southern Pride Meat Company, she was a member of the American Legion Post 11 Ladies Auxiliary as well as the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. 

A service to celebrate her life will be Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home chapel with Pastor David Moehring officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.  A time of visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.

Becky is survived her children, James “Richard” Corbett, Cynthia “Cindy” Lynn Corbett; step-children, Donald Ray Creech, Jr., Anthony Pierce Harrell, Jay Alan Harrell and Rebecca McFee;  Sisters, Brenda Gurley Stater and Sandra Gurley Brewer; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the American Legion Post 11/Ladies Auxillary, 2973 S. US 117, Dudley, NC  28333.
