Ralph "Chuck" Charles Marshall, Jr.

Ralph Charles “Chuck” Marshall Jr. passed away peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro.

Chuck was born in Wayne County to the late Ralph Charles Marshall Sr. and Lucille Myers Marshall. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before receiving a medical discharge. His military service was an important part of his life, and he remained deeply proud of having served his country.

Chuck was a man who found great joy in the people and activities he loved. He enjoyed shooting pool and was a member of the TAP Pool League, where he appreciated both the friendly competition and fellowship. He also enjoyed model trains and had a lifelong interest in all things military. His membership in the Ghost Riders Motorcycle Club, Wilson Chapter, provided him with cherished friendships and a strong sense of brotherhood.

Family was at the heart of Chuck’s life. He especially treasured his grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy and filled his life with countless special memories. He cherished every opportunity to spend time with them and took great pride in watching them grow.

Chuck also had a special place in his heart for his beloved four-legged companions, Elphie, Zara, and Abby, who were cherished members of his family.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Ann Cherrie Marshall of Goldsboro; stepdaughters, Sarah Herring and husband, Bradley, and Cheyanne Merritt and husband, Ian Boxley; and grandchildren, Tristen Herring, Nolan Herring, Lydia Boxley, and Amaya Boxley.

He is also survived by his siblings, John Michael Marshall, Andrew Strickland, Terry Sims, Sandra Van Wormer; best friend, Todd Doss; his brothers of the Ghost Riders Motorcycle Club, Wilson Chapter; and many extended family members and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his brother, Lee Strickland.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday , September 4, 2026 . in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the Reverend Scott Thrailkill officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.

Chuck will be remembered for his generous heart, his loyalty to those he loved, his pride in his military service, and the friendships and brotherhood he built throughout his life. He found happiness in a good game of pool, long rides on his bike, treasured his time with family and friends, and most of all, took great joy in his grandchildren. The love, laughter, and memories he shared with those around him will remain in their hearts forever. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
