Mildred Lois (Gurganus) Cannon

Mildred Gurganus Cannon, 74, of Goldsboro passed away Thursday at her residence. She is the daughter of the late Johnny and Irene Gurganus and was the wife of Melvin Cannon. Mrs. Cannon was a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at the graveside in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.

In addition to her husband of 23 years, Melvin, Mrs. Cannon is survived by her sons, James Ray Horne and fiancé, Jenna Martensen of Bellevue, NE and Richard Gurley and wife, Dixie of Grantham; brothers, Danny and Irvin Gurganus; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and her church family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cannon was preceded in death by her children, Clarence Avery Horne and Brenda H. Dickerson; brothers, Willie, Johnny, and Frank Gurganus; and sisters, Inez Brock, Beulah Howell, Linda Pope, Dolly Gurganus, and Betty Gurley.
