Mildred Lee (Powers) Brock

Mildred Lee Powers Brock, age 77, passed Sunday evening at Wayne/UNC Health Care in Goldsboro, NC. Born in Richmond, VA, she was the daughter of the late Clifton (Skippy) Powers and Virginia Giannotti Powers. She was the wife of the late Herman L. Brock. Mildred was a member of Jordans Chapel Baptist Church,  a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, Mizpah Chapter 32 and was a Volunteer at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.  She enjoyed square dancing, camping, crafts, collecting pigs and dolls. She also was known to love McDonald’s, a banana split and coffee.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Smeltzer officiating. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

She is survived by her daughters, Sherrie Foreman ( J.C. Cherry), Janet Wright (Mark) and Karen Smith (Ken); son, Derrick Brock; sister, Janice Machalski; devoted niece, Linda Denning; grandchildren, Tripper, Amanda, Jenna, Ryan, Todd, Delaney, Brandie, Keely and Kailyn; 11 great grandchildren; devoted friends, Henry & Arneda Watson and Craig and Jane Beagle.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Randy Guthrie, Jr., siblings Jeanne Powers Reeves & Dale Powers and her brother-in-law, Eddie Machalski.
