Merlene W. Fields, 87, passed away Monday, October 23, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Ed and Mary Bell Wiley, and widow of the late Edward Fields. Mrs. Merlene enjoyed, sewing, flowers, cooking, being retired, spending time with her children and her dogs.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday at 2:00 in Wayne Memorial Park with Pastor Donald Massey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
Mrs. Merlene is survived by her children, Vickie Kelly and husband, Larry of Mt. Olive, Wanda Haggard of Goldsboro, and Christine Marie Legg of Pikeville; a sister, Joyce Ray Holland; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Merlene was preceded in death by multiple brothers and sisters.
