Martha (Gurganus) Overton

Martha Gurganus Overton, 99, of Mt. Olive passed away Friday at Genesis Healthcare in. Mt. Olive, NC. She was the daughter of the late Johnson and Georgie Smith Gurganus, and was the wife of the late Roy J. Overton. Mrs. Overton was a retired inspector for Mt. Olive Pickle Company, and she loved growing flowers.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. in Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Franklin Lane officiating.

Mrs. Overton is survived by her grandchildren, Billy Overton and wife, Michelle, Sherrie Powell, Ken Overton and wife, Lori, and Ray Overton Jr.; her daughters in law, Shirley Overton and Annie Ruth Overton both of Mt. Olive; a son in law, George Summerlin of Dudley; 8 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Overton was preceded in death by her children, Robert Overton, Elbert Overton, and Kathleen Summerlin; three grandchildren, George Ray Summerlin, Ronald Summerlin, and Ricky Summerlin; and all of her brothers.
