Lt. Col. (Ret.) Luther “Luke” Madison Taylor, age 83, passed away on Wednesday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in St. Clair, AL, he was the son of the late Jessie C. Taylor and Plonnie Brown Taylor. “Luke” was retired from the U.S. Army as a Lt. Colonel after serving for over 20 years and having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the Cornerstone Presbyterian Church and the Golden “K” Kiwanis Club.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Taylor will be held on Sunday, July 27th at 2:00 pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ryan Rasmussen officiating. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park and following the rendering of full military honors, the family greet friends at the graveside.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Nita Butler Taylor; a son, Edward Taylor; a daughter, Misty Paladino; a brother, Jerry Taylor and three grandchildren, William Taylor, Christopher Taylor and Isabella Paladino.
