Lena Bruce Lanier Casey, 88, died Wednesday at Harmony Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kinston. Born in Duplin County, Lena was the daughter of the late Matt “Tebe” Lanier and Sallie Bradley Lanier and wife of the late Ralph Steele Casey. She was also preceded in death by daughter, Teresa Casey Thompson, a son in law, Ricky Avon Thompson and daughter, Violet Casey Ferrell and a son, Randall Ralph Casey, a grandson, Randy Casey and a great grandson, Brandson Casey. Lena owned Ralph Casey’s Grocery, Auto Parts and Garage for many years in Seven Springs.
A service to celebrate Lena’s life will be held in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home on Sunday at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Ashley Summerlin officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery near Seven Springs. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Lena is survived by her grandchildren, Nita Diane Thompson Jones and husband, Vance Foy Jones, Jr., Randy Avon Thompson and wife, Mary Lou Thompson, Robert Ferrell, Ralph Ferrell and Ronald Casey; her great-grandchildren, Abagail Thompson, Macey Thompson, Ricki Lane, Micheal Jones, Ann-Leigh Nagy, Timothy Nagy, Bryant Ferrell, Bailey Smith, Alexis Anderson, Summer Ludlum, Stephanie Herring, Christopher Casey, Bethany Warren, Ryan Casey and Randy Gage Casey.
