Larry Joseph Dixon, age 66, of Mt. Olive, passed away on Tuesday morning at Wayne UNC Healthcare surrounded by his family. He was son of the late James and Rossie Dixon of Mt. Olive.
Larry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sue Massengill Dixon; his daughter, Kelly Dixon Pate and husband, Jason; his son, Matt Dixon and wife, Sarah. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Thomas, Andrew and John Pate, Taylor, Kate and Noah Dixon; Two brothers, Edward Dixon and wife, Pansy, Arnold Dixon and wife, Sharon; sister, Linda Daw and husband, Tony. Sister-in-law, Roxie Cauley; brothers-in-law, Fred Massengill and wife, Carolyn, Arnold Jarman and wife, Elaine; numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death, by sister, Delores Dixon Jarman, In-Laws, Needham and Sally Massengill; Brother-In-Law, Chris Cauley.
Larry owned and operated Dixon Paint & Wallcovering for 28 years. Larry took no greater pride than providing quality craftmanship.
A rosary service will be held on Thursday, January 23 at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. James F. Garneau, presiding. A funeral Mass will follow at 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church of Mt. Olive. The family will receive friends and family following the Mass. A committal service will be held Friday, January 24, at 11:00 a.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Mt. Olive. At other times, the family will be at the home.
