Kimberly Alyson (Brock) Carter

Kimberly Alyson Brock Carter was born in Goldsboro, NC on June 16th, 1964 to her parents, Granger Lee Brock and Alice Thompson Brock. She spent her childhood and lived in Grantham, NC. She received the title of big sister in 1966 after the birth of her brother, Granger Keith Brock and again in 1968 with the birth of her brother, Kelvin Lee Brock. In 1972, she was gifted her baby sister, Katrina Faye Brock Scholes. Growing up, she spent most summers at her Granny and Pa’s grill and playing with her many cousins. She attended Grantham School and was a proud graduate of Southern Wayne High School, Class of 1982. She married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Ray Overton, on October 17, 1987. She gained her favorite job title, Mom, on May 22nd,1990 with the birth of her son, Kenneth Kyle Overton and again on March 15th, 1995 after the birth of her daughter, Kala Rae Overton. Kimberly would always state that she lived for her children for they were her whole world. She was known as a punctual, dependable, and hardworking employee. She worked many occupations including the printing shop at Southco, Front Sales Manager at Goldsboro Drug Company for 9 years, and Wireless Xpress as a Retail Sales Associate in the most recent years. She treated her coworkers and friends like family and was sure to remember everyone’s birthday along with daily snapchats. She had a contagious and loving personality. She made sure everyone felt included and had a heart of Gold. She was well known for her love of strawberries, watermelon, JON BON JOVI, music, fashion, “selfies”, friends, her Heavenly Father, and most importantly her family.

A service of love and remembrance will be held on Monday at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home & Crematory. Committal services will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P,M. at the funeral home.

She is survived by her loving mother, Alice Medford and step-father Ed Medford, Son Kenneth Kyle Overton, Daughter Kala Overton Raynor and husband Gregory Andrew Raynor, Siblings Keith Brock and partner Angel Lane, Kelvin Brock and husband Eric Carlson, Katrina Brock Scholes and husband Joseph Scholes, Phyllis Bright, Pamela Humphrey, Phillip Medford, Aunts and Uncles Frances and James Millard, Jean and David Eichacker, Douglas and Alice Thompson, Lynette Brock, Nieces and Nephews Kaitlyn Brock Bell and husband Josh Bell, Konner Brock and wife Becca Brock, Kaleb Brock, Karoline Brock Brown and husband Dwayne Brown, Tavo Scholes, Kallie Brock, Ian Scholes, Talan Scholes, her great-nieces and nephews, bonus sister Crystal Brock, and bonus mother Shirley Overton. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Blaney and Mary B. Thompson, paternal grandparents Perry and Myrtle Lee Brock, her father Granger Lee Brock, and nephew, Brock Joseph Scholes.
