Kenneth "Kenny" Roell Obituary

Kenneth “Kenny” Robert Roell, 44, of Goldsboro, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

Kenny was born on October 14, 1981, in Channing, Michigan, to the late Kenneth Julius Roell and Catherine Wilson Roell. He graduated from North Dickinson High School in 2000 before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force from 2000 to 2008. During his time in service, he was a member of the Kunsan Military Base Choir in Korea, where he shared his love of music and fellowship.

Kenny married the love of his life, Lauren Ashleigh Pettit Roell, on November 29, 2022. Together, they filled their lives and the lives of those around them with laughter, joy, and endless jokes. Known for his incredible sense of humor and warm spirit, Kenny loved singing, telling “dad jokes,” and entertaining family and friends.

A devoted servant of his faith and community, Kenny volunteered faithfully with prison ministry and local soup kitchens. His heart for service began while caring for his beloved adopted aunt, Virginia O’Quinn—affectionately serving as her “bodyguard” on trips to pick up Atkinson’s pastries. Through that bond, his passion for helping others grew into a lifelong calling. Kenny began visiting at Willow Creek and the Brian Center, where he enjoyed reading his Bible to the patients. He served at Bridge Church in Princeton, Redemption Hill in Iron Mountain, Michigan, Faith Alliance in Goldsboro, The Navigators Ministry, the Royal Rangers. He also served the clients of Family Ties in Iron Mountain, MI., where he would entertain them by singing or reading a devotional.  Whether visiting those in need or quietly working on the cleaning team, Kenny found joy in serving the Lord in any way he could.

Kenny cherished traveling and living life to the fullest with Lauren, his “Lady with the Big Ideas.” Their love was deep and joyful, seen in the small, thoughtful moments—like making sure she always had flowers at the grocery store, or spending time together by the lake, creating songs and laughter wherever they went.

Above all, Kenny loved his family deeply. He treasured time with his grandmother’s, siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith.

He is survived by his soulmate and beloved wife, Lauren Roell; his beautiful daughter, Elizabeth Liberty Annette Roell; his siblings, Brandon Roell and wife Jenni, Andrew Roell and wife Dana, Jessica Lessandrini and husband Dave, and Melanie Roell. He is also loved by many beloved nieces, nephews, uncles, aunties, and cousins.

The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home & Crematory from 11:00 to 11:45 AM.
