Kenneth Elton Timmons, 87, of Wayne County passed away Sunday morning after a long battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Joseph Houston Timmons and Mary Elizabeth Parks Timmons and husband of the late Claudia Virginia Sutton Timmons.
Kenneth loved drag racing and fast cars. He was a supervisor at Kemp Furniture, having worked there for 33 years. His second career began with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, he retired at the rank of Sergeant after 20 years of service.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 3:00 at Wayne Memorial Park.
Kenneth is survived by his three children, Charlotte Ann Boyette and husband, Bob, Kenneth Phillip “Phil” Timmons, and Dawn T. Murray all of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Kenneth Joseph Timmons, Carly Warner and husband, Austin, and Jeremy Murray; four great grandchildren, Hannah Timmons, Lilly Timmons, Alice Warner, and Jill Warner; and a special grandchild Kirsten Lilly of Toledo, OH.
The family would like to thank the staff of Kitty Askins Hospice Center for their excellent care for Mr. Kenneth during his time there. The family would like to thank his special caregivers, Beverly Decker, Troven “Vonn” Moore, and Alice Hayes, as well as a special thanks to Community Hospice in his final months.
