Joseph Dudley Morgan

Joseph Dudley Morgan, age 78, passed away Wednesday at Wayne UNC Healthcare. Born in Fairfax, MO, Joe was the son of the late Miles Emery Morgan and Katherine E. Lutz Morgan and brother of the late Ada Copeland.  He was a dedicated member of Brogden United Methodist Church, where he served as lay speaker and was very active with Boy Scout Troop 92 for 37 years. Joe was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served for 28 years and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

A service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held Monday at 2:00 pm at Brogden United Methodist Church with Rev. David Moehring officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will greet friends Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.

Joe is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandy Morgan; children, Sonya (Doug) Ross, Clint Morgan, Kelly (Bobby Reed) Morgan; brothers, Marty Morgan, Wesley Morgan, Gerald Morgan, Harold Morgan; sisters, Mary Long, Alma Morgan, Nancy Morgan, Kathy Morgan; nine grandchildren, Christine Eaton, Thomas (Katie) Ross, Teagen (Aaron) Casey, Chase Morgan, Walker Morgan, Sadie Morgan, Abigail Stevens, Jordan Reed and Nicholas Stevens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Brogden United Methodist Church, 2918 US Hwy. 117, Dudley, NC 28333 or the Boy Scout Troop 92, 105 Woodland Street, Dudley, NC 28333.
