John Deleano Tilton

John Deleano Tilton, 76, formerly of Goldsboro passed away Friday at Duke Medical Center. He was the son of the late Harvey John and Gladys Smith Tilton. John enjoyed bicycle riding and could be seen all over Goldsboro on his. When he moved to Cary to be closer to his sister, John received the News Argus in order to keep up with the current events in and around Goldsboro. John was a very social person and was well loved by the people of Chatham Assisted Living and Westwood Baptist Church. John’s family, especially his niece and great nieces were very special to him. When John lived in Goldsboro he attended Belfast Pentecostal Holiness Church, once he moved to Cary he joined Westwood Baptist Church.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at the graveside on Friday, November 12 at 1:00 P..M. in Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Tom Ogburn officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 at the Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.

John is survived by a sister, Deborah Tilton of Cary; a niece, Dr. Lisa Tracy and husband, Joe of Durham; and 3 great nieces, Mary Elisabeth, Eva Joy, and Anna Grace.

A sister, Mary Magdalene Tilton, preceded John in death.
