John Dennis Rupe, 73, of Dudley, passed away Sunday evening at his residence. Born in Ottumwa, IA, he was the son of the late Lee and Effie Cole Rupe. Mr. Rupe was a member of Miller Chapel Church in Ottumwa. He enjoyed reading books, watching old westerns, horses, and wolves. A beloved uncle, he was a big fan of practical jokes, and loved being on the road in his long-haul truck. A United States Army veteran, he was very proud of helping train many soldiers.
No formal services will be held at this time.
John is survived by his children, Cecil Rupe of Iowa, Tony Rupe of Iowa, John Rupe and wife, Iiona of Germany, and Carleigh Rupe of Excelsior Springs, MO; a brother, James Rupe and wife, Carolyn of Lawson, MO; a sister Peggy Rupe Carter of Dudley; a sister-in-law, Jannie Rupe of Clarksville, TN; 6 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his siblings, Rosalee Prevette, Donald Rupe, Shirley Rupe Wood, and Deanna Rupe Dehm.
