John Robert Potter, Sr., age 85, passed away on Thursday, October 23rd at East Carolina Rehab and Wellness Center in Greenville, NC. Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Robert Franklin Potter and Nannie Wiggs Potter and husband of the late Gaynell Mitchell Potter. An electrician by trade, John loved to fish, especially with his friend, Bill Joyner. He also enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog, Sandy.
A service to celebrate John’s life will be held on Monday, October 27th at 12 noon in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Brogden Chapel Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Potter is survived by a son, John (Lorrie) Potter, Jr.; his daughters, Marilyn Grantham (Mike) Wallace, Yvonne (Joe) Mason, Debbie (James, Jr.) Farmer and Angel (Jon) Novak; a sister, Sarah Ann Cook; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
