John Earl Pope, 60, of Goldsboro passed away Friday at Wayne UNC Hospital. He was the son of the late James and Margaret Turnage Pope, and the husband of the late, Linda B. Pope. Mr. Pope worked in construction for himself. He enjoyed spending time with his family, riding the four-wheeler with his grandchildren, going to the auction, working in his flowers, tinkering on anything, going fishing, or listening to music. He also enjoyed demolition derbies, winning for his first time entering a derby.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Pete Norris officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
John is survived by his children, Nick Pope (Heather) of Goldsboro and Maranda Radford (David) of Myrtle Beach, SC; sisters, Lynn Walston of La Grange and Robin Pope (Kenneth Brewer) of Dudley; and grandchildren, Justin Radford, Carlie Radford, Kyle Radford, David Radford, Everett Radford, Chayden Lancaster, Raelyn Pope, Bryant Pope, Will Pope, and Jackson Pope.
