John Lee Basden

John Lee Basden, 82, of Goldsboro, passed away at his residence Friday evening. He is the son of the late Frank and Dollie Whaley Basden, and was the husband of the late Dorothy McCullen Basden and father of the late Steven Wise. Mr. Basden was retired from the United States Air Force and worked as a service manager for Pate-Dawson and Gene Taylor Chevrolet. He was a member of Park East Church of God, the American Legion, DAV chapter 16 of Onslow County, and the Veteran of Foreign Wars.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Park East Church of God with Rev. Wesley Jarman and Rev. Ronnie Ezzell, officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

He is survived by his children, Theresa Basden Spain and husband Landon of Fountain, Susan B. Cole and husband, Robert of Grantham, Sandra Jernigan of Grantham, and Ray Wise and wife, Dianne of Marion; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.

In addition, Mr. Basden was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret B. Pate and brothers, James D. Basden.
