John Rodney Baldwin

John Rodney Baldwin, in the care of Kitty Askins Hospice, transitioned into the arms of his heavenly father on June 13th, 2026, at the age of eighty-five. Born in Clark County Kentucky in 1940 to the late Louis and Margaret Baldwin, he was the second of their three sons. Predeceased by his older brother Louis Baldwin and survived by his younger brother Bob Baldwin (Mary Louise). Predeceased by his wife of twenty-seven years Sue (McCracken) Baldwin. Survived by his two daughters with Mary Jane (Rose) Russell, Beverly Baldwin and Chelle Baldwin (David Pittman) along with grandchildren Garrett Shumate, Rebecca (Matt) Mendini, Rosie Pittman, and Alyse Pittman. Beloved Uncle John to Louis, Blair, Thomas, Heather, and David.

As an Eastern Kentucky University graduate, he pursued a career in computers until moving to North Carolina and becoming an entrepreneur. His love of singing lead to fifty years in community theater productions (his favorite being musicals) and being a member of multiple choirs. For him, it was a gift that fueled his heart and soul. It is certain he is singing with the angels and filled with love.

John never met a stranger and loved to share his passions with others. He curated a large collection of vintage appliances to create the Things of Yesteryear Museum that he kept open to the public. His love of antique cars compelled him to create a rotation of car shows at local Senior Living Facilities in and around the New Bern NC area.

He was a devote Christian who loved his church family, friends, and neighbors. He will be brought home to be laid to rest with his parents at the Winchester Cemetery in a graveside service on July 3rd.

A celebration of life will be held in New Bern NC in the coming months.
