Jarvis Murray James, Jr., age 77, passed away surrounded by family, Sunday, June 7, 2026, at his home in the Rosewood community.

Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Jarvis Murray James, Sr. and Ruby Lane James. He was a member of Pikes Crossroads Pentecostal Holiness Church and had previously been a longtime member of New Life Baptist Church. Jarvis worked alongside  fellow members of the Neuse River Baptist Association wheelchair ramp ministry, they build wheelchair ramps for veterans and others in need, demonstrating his servant's heart and willingness to help those around him.

A proud veteran, Mr. James served his country honorably in the United States Army for three years. He was blessed with a beautiful singing voice, being musically gifted to play the piano by ear.  For many years he was a member of the band “KASE” and a family  gospel group, New Life Quartet, alongside his daughter , son and brother-in-law.  He loved praising God through song and sharing his faith with others.

Mr. James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished time spent with his family. He enjoyed sports, especially golf and tennis, and took great pride in maintaining his yard, which was always kept in immaculate condition. He was mechanically gifted and enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together. He also loved animals and enjoyed gathering with friends for breakfast at local favorites, including Lantern Inn and other area diners.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy James; his children, Tammy James Kincaid and husband, Jeff, Jarvis Murray “Jay” James III and wife, Amber; his grandchildren, Allison Harrigan and husband, Sean, Kaitlyn Kincaid, Brayden James, Makayla James, and Dalton James; and his great-grandchild, Maison Harrigan
