James "Jim" Laffette Lewis

James “Jim” Lewis passed away on Thursday at the Goldsboro Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Sadie Price Lewis and a sister, Edna Rose Lewis.

James “Jimmy” Lewis passed away on Friday at Wayne UNC Healthcare. Jimmy was the son of Edna Earl Lewis and the late James “Jim” Lewis. Jimmy was a 1978 graduate of Southern Wayne High School where he was active in the FFA. Jimmy was well known for his collards and lived each day for the opportunity to grow them.

A service to celebrate the lives of Jim and Jimmy will begin for Jim on Tuesday at 11:00 am at the graveside at Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Blane Smith officiating. Immediately following Jim’s service, the graveside for Jimmy will begin. Following the graveside services the family will go to Dudley Christian Church where they will visit with family and friends.

Jim and his son, Jimmy are survived by their wife/mother, Edna Lewis; daughters/sisters, Peggy Wallace and her husband, Robert and Lynn Smith and her husband, Jimmy; granddaughter/niece, Heather Crumpler; great grandson/great nephew, Luke Crumpler.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Dudley Christian Church, 212 O’Berry Road, Dudley, NC 28333.
