Construction Mechanic First Class (SCW/EXW) James Brantley “J.B.” Randell, age 37, died Wednesday, May 6, 2020. He was a graduate of Southern Wayne High School in 2000 where he was on the wrestling team. Enlisted in the United States Navy in September of 2004, he was a member of the Elite Seabees Unit as a Construction Mechanic. He was hand selected to support the Elite Navy Seals in Panama City Beach. J.B. was one of the first Seabees to embed to assist Navy Divers. He has been deployed to Kuwait, Iraq (2), Japan, Spain and Bahrain (3). He loved to play putt putt with his wife and always up for a friendly game of poker with his buddies. While James was his Christian name, he would be quick to let you know he liked to be called “J.B.”. He was always quick to assist and help everyone. He always had a smile and desire to make others laugh. A quote by one of his many friends, “J.B. could light up a room just by walking in.” We will always miss him, his accent, his contagious laugh, and his smile.
