On December 31, 1926 James Floyd Daughtry Jr. was born to James Floyd Sr. and Lissie Daughtry. Floyd passed away peacefully at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family on February 14, 2020. Floyd grew up in Princeton, North Carolina working in his father’s store and surrounded by his loving sisters, Hilda and Joyce; and his brother, Harold growing up. He was fascinated by airplanes, and joined the Army Air Corps at the end of WWII. Upon returning stateside, Floyd entered Atlantic Christian College and then married Christine Byrd of Goldsboro. They were married for 66 years, and together they raised a beautiful family with children Jim, Jan, and Don.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, February 17, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Cornerstone Church with Pastor Ryan Rasmussen officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Committal services will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Floyd is survived by his children and spouses, Don and Natalie Daughtry of John’s Creek, GA, and Jan and Marty Metzler of Goldsboro, NC; a daughter in law, Joyce Daughtry of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Beth and Tom Guth, Bob Daughtry, Mark and Lauren Metzler, Sam and Martha Metzler, Alexander Daughtry, Heather and Troy Bogan, and Jake Perlmutter; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A son, James Floyd “Jimmy” Daughtry, III. also preceded him in death.
