James Harrell Carter, age 89, passed away Thursday at his residence following a period of declining health. Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late James Allen Carter and Maggie Udell Parrish Carter and husband of the late Mary Ann Bradshaw Carter. James a Veteran of the US Army and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was formerly a member of the Travelers Protection Agency, along with the American Legion Post 541 in Pikeville and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 45. He was the original little league football coach at Charles B. Aycock where he was referred to as “Father Falcon”.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday at 12 noon at the First Baptist Church in Goldsboro with Dr. Glenn Phillips officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church.
James is survived by his son, James Scott Carter and wife, Debbie; two grandchildren, Casey Carter Harrell and husband, Adam and Kourtney Carter and her boyfriend, Seth Turlington; a great grandson, Michael Asher Turlington and his faithful canine companion, “Maggie”.
