James “Dink” Capps, 68, of Grantham passed away on Sunday at his residence. He was the son of the late William Henry and Leona Thompson Capps and was the husband of Rose Evans Capps. Dink retired from Arnold Wilbert Vault company after working there for 20 years. He was a retired Grantham Volunteer Fireman. He had also worked for Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home for many years, as well as Grayson Mitchell Trucking Co. In his spare time, he and his family cut grass for 38 years. Dink also loved NASCAR racing, demolition derbies, and fishing.
A service to celebrate Dink’s life will be held on Thursday, April 25th at 2:00pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Committal services will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
In addition to his wife of 38 years, Dink is survived by his children, Timothy Capps of Goldsboro, Kevin Capps of Goldsboro, Ronnie Thompson and wife, Tania of Mar Mac, David “Runt” Thompson and wife, Tanya of Grantham, and Jennie Kornegay and husband, Willie of Grantham; brothers, Richard Capps. wife, Abigail of Florida, Billy Capps, wife, Amanda of Goldsboro, and Willie Thompson of Seven Springs and Doug Coker of Dudley; a sister, Teresa Summerlin of Goldsboro; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; his dog, Smokey; and friend, Kent Rivenbark.
