James Mosco “Brillo” Britt, age 63, of the Grantham community passed away Friday, December 13, 2024 at his home. Born in Wayne County to the late T.K. and Doris Blackmon Britt. James attended Eureka Christian Church and Manley Grove P.H. Church in Grantham, he graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1979. James was known for craftsmanship of wood, especially in the cabinet making. Truly a “jack of all trades”, James helped many of the local farmers and others with equipment repairs over the years. James loved history and genealogy and was known to be the family historian.
James is survived by his siblings, Jo Ann Britt Johnson and husband Scott of Dunn, Jennie Britt Kilpatrick and Husband Sonny of Seven Springs, Thomas C. “Tom” Britt and wife Vivian of Wilmington. Also Surviving are his nieces and nephews, along with his extended family and dear friends.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, December 16, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the sanctuary of Eureka Christian Church 2036 Dobbersville Road Mount Olive, the Rev. Frank Purvis, Pastor Todd Massey Officiating. The family will greet friends at the church following the celebration of life.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial donations be directed to the Carlisle Purvis Scholarship fund at Eureka Christian Church.
