Jack Edwin Horrell

Jack Edwin Horrell, 84, of Dudley passed away on Friday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. He was the son of the late Jesse Edwin and Alma Carter Horrell, and was married to the late Anita W. Horrell. Mr. Horrell was retired from the United States Air Force. While in the service, he was awarded a purple heart, the Air Force commendation medal with an oak leaf cluster, and other assorted medals. After retirement from the Air Force, Jack went to work as the manager for Snow Hill Heating and Air Conditioning. A good handy man when he was able, he enjoyed helping others. As he got older and stayed in more, he gained a love for music and movies. Jack showed his loved for family and friends in many ways. He lived a life in service to others, quick to offer support and a helping hand to those around him.
 

A celebration of Jack’s life will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. Committal services will be held following the service in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Horrell is survived by his children, Franklin Edward Rogers and wife, Marylu of Leland and Karyn R. Moore of Goldsboro; a brother, Grover Cleveland Horrell and wife, Janet of N. Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Jeremy Moore and wife, Jessica, Blake Moore, Emily Moore, Julia Rogers, William Rogers, and Steve Rogers; great grandchildren, Willow and Aurora Moore and William Rogers; and special friends and neighbors, Ricky and Michelle Carter and son, Alex.

In addition to his wife, a brother, Charles Barry Horrell; a sister, Bonnie H. Beacham; a son, William “Bill” Rogers; and a son in law, Michael Moore preceded him in death.
