Irene Robinson Alford, age 82, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Elizabethtown, NC, she was the daughter of the late Timothy David Robinson and Isabel Johnson Robinson and the wife of the late Maurice “Gil” Alford. She was a member of Social Plains Baptist Church in Zebulon, NC.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Noon in the Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dave Fishman officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 – 11:45 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Alford is survived by her son, James Rodney Holder (Tina); brother, Daniel J. Robinson (Marilyn); sisters, Beulah Johnson, Ida Suggs and Sarah Johnston; four grandchildren, Calvin James “CJ” Holder, Christopher David Holder, Aaron Joseph Holder (Tori) and Timothy Daniel Holder; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, David W. Robinson, Colin B. Robinson, Johnnie Robinson, Betty Tatum and Nellie Tatum; husbands, Calvin Jackson “CJ” Holder and Troy Bryant Baker.
