Goldia Mae (Holland) Jones

Goldia Mae Holland Smith Jones, 91, passed away Saturday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. She was the daughter of the late Jethro Samuel Holland and Alma Dulce Parker Holland.  She was also preceded in death by her grandchildren, Jeffrey Scott Cartrette, Judy Darlene Cartrette Wagner and Stephen Emery Cartrette. She was a member of New Hope Church of God.

A service for close friends and family will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Pastor Charlie Asby officiating. Committal services will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service and at other times at the home of her daughter, Frances.

Goldia is survived by her daughter, Frances Smith Whitfield; sons, Durwood Smith and Melvin B. “Bunny” Smith; a brother, Nathan Thomas Holland; grandchildren, Louann Callahan, Lynette Pedersen; and her great grandchildren, Christopher Cartrette, Ryan Cartrette, Jordan Cartrette, Alex Pedersen and Hero Pedersen.
