Glenn Ray Thornton, age 75, died Saturday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Sampson Co., he was the son of the late William Bernice and Ada Louise Thornton. He was a retired truck driver.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Thornton is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marie G. Thornton; two sons, Howard Thornton and William Glenn Thornton; daughter, Laynette Cribb; step daughters, Deborah Herndon and Glenda Alger; sister, Janice Louise Powell; seven grandchildren, Ashleigh Taylor Thornton, Williams Glenn Thornton, Jr, Robney Blake Thornton, Kenneth Royal, Crystal Land, Donald Cribb and Tiffany Royal; two step grandchildren, April Anderson and Holly Godwin; numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, William Harvey Thornton, Sr., Howard Lee Thornton, Robert Sherrill Thornton, Jimmy Davis Thornton; sisters, Inez McClenny and Judy Lee.
