Glenn Gurley, 79, formerly of Dudley, passed away Monday night at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He is the son of the late Needham and Mittie Mitchell Gurley, and is married to Rose W. Gurley. Glenn had attended Oakland Friends Church. He was a counter clerk for F & D Auto Parts, Automotive Wholesale, and Carquest, where he was very knowledgeable about car parts. Mr. Gurley loved to work, spend time in his garden and cutting his grass.
A service to celebrate Glenn’s life will be held on Friday at 7:00 P.M. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Whitfield officiating. A committal service will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 A.M. at Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Barry Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening following the service.
In addition to his wife of 43 years, Glenn is survived by his son, Michael Gurley and wife, Emily of Goldsboro; a brother, Rex Gurley and wife, Linda of La Grange; a sister Janis Gurley of Dudley; and two grandchildren, Kolten and Hadley Gurley.
