Gladys Vivian (Guy) Wise

Gladys Vivian Guy Wise, age 88, passed away Monday morning at Wayne UNC Healthcare. Born in Cumberland Co., she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Mary Rena Smith Guy.  A member of Friendly Holiness Church, she was retired with Wayne County Public Schools at the Grantham School Cafeteria.

 Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 7:00 pm from the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Purvis and Rev. Richard McKenna officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private burial will be held on Thursday at the Wise Family Cemetery.

 Mrs. Wise is survived by her husband of 70 years, William Everett “Ebb” Wise; four sons & daughters-in-law, Jarvis Wise (Angie), Ronald Wise, Elton “Red” Wise (Lynn) and Ernest Wise (Lynn); daughter and son-in-law, Gail Johnson (Steve); half-brothers, Joe Guy and Robert Guy; half-sisters, Josephine Futrelle and Emma Jean Raefield; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; her special friend, Esther Wise.

 Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, 3 sisters and grandson, Matthew Johnson.
