Geraldine Gerry (Whitfield) Brewer

Geraldine W. Brewer, 82, passed away Monday at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Russell and Ruby Fields Whitfield and was married to the late L.B. Brewer. Gerry was a lifetime member of Rones Chapel U.M.C. and a teacher for Wayne County Public Schools for 30 years. She enjoyed working with her flowers in the yard and watching the butterflies and hummingbirds. She also enjoyed cooking and experimenting with her recipes. In her younger years she loved to spend time at the beach.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday at 3:00 in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Coates officiating. Committal services will be held on Monday at 11:00 A.M. in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Sunday.

Mrs. Brewer is survived by many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Carolyn Straughn.

In addition to her husband, Geraldine is preceded in death by her son, Brad Brewer; daughter, Rebecca B. Kelly and husband, Mike; a brother, Jim “Buddy” Whitfield; and a sister, Alma Jean Wells.
