George Eddie “Chubby” Green, Sr., was born on June 10th, 1959 and departed his life on February 26, 2024 at ECU Medical Center. He was born to the late George Thomas Green and Mary Lee Artis Green. Preceding him in death were: two brothers, Levon Green and Billy Newton; one sister, Carolyn D. Green.
He attended Wilson and Wayne County Public Schools. He worked at Export Tobacco Factory, Smith Brick Mason and Barnes Auto Salvage. He loved working on cars and going fishing with his family & friends. He was the handy man of the family and would do his best to help you until his health failed.
A Home Going Service will be held Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Corey Everette officiating. Burial will follow in the Golden Gate Memorial Cemetery in Pikeville, NC. A Wake for family and friends will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: three sons, George Eddie Green, Jr., Justin Kendrick Green and Demetrius Cornelius Green of the home; two stepsons, Christopher Murchison and Eric Murchison; two godchildren, Jessica Lynn Murchison and Jaid Paul Bedard; six grandchildren, Aishah Tomica Green, Amax Xavier Green, Kayla Green, Geneva Green, Elijah Green, Pharaoh Green; six brothers, Roy Green of Wilson, NC, Jimmy and Ronald (Bobbie) Green, both of Fremont, NC, Bobby (Patricia) Green of Kenly, NC, Patrick (Vanessa) Green of Pikeville, NC, Chester Newton of Greenville, NC; six sisters, Lizzy (Russell) Smith, Joyce Applewhite, Margie Green, Doris Artis, all of Fremont, NC, Mary Tyson of Pikeville, NC, and JoAnn Green of Wilson, NC; three aunts, Queen Artis, Ella Artis and Dorothy Green Richardson; a special friend, Rachel Callaham and her mother, Josephine Callaham; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends; a very special friend, Emma Murchison.
