Gay Nell (Smith) Fields

Gay Nell Smith Fields, age 79, passed away on Monday at Wayne UNC Health Care. Born in Anniston, AL, she was the daughter of the late William Leon Smith and Mattie Lou Borders Smith. She attended the Living Word Church and Calvary’s Cross Church.

A service to celebrate Gay’s life will be held on Friday at 2:00pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Pastor Lloyd Harris officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.

She is survived by her husband, Herman Fields; her daughters, Linda (Robert) Trahan, Catherine (David) Sager, Pamela (Mark) Higgins, Samantha (Jeff) Kyser, Dana Combs, Diane (Jamie) Rainwater, Angela (Tripp) Blandford, Lora (Robert) Thompson; her grandchildren, Eric Trahan, Nikki Porter, Crystal Davis, Morgan Symons, Matthew Farris, Chaz Farris, Katie Ward, Rebecca Smitherman, Russ Beasley, Reid Beasley, Brent Cox, Ariel Cox, David Combs, Chelsea Chambers, Amanda Cloman, Jessica Owens, Audrey Norred, James Rainwater, Anna Belle Rainwater, Moseley Higgins, Leeann Myers, Michael Ordway, Matthew Thompson, Jackie Blandford, Emily Blandford, and Kelly Blandford; along with numerous great grandchildren.
