Frances Rentz Obituary

Frances Smith Rentz, age 78, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024, at her home in Walnut Creek.  She was born in Wayne County to the late John and Goldie Holland Smith   She was preceded in death by her children Stephen Cartrette Jr., Jeffery Cartrette and Judy Darlene Cartrette. She was also preceded in death by her previous husband Claude Whitfield

Frances Served on the Board of Directors at Walnut Creek Village, a member of New Hope Church of God, a member of the RNC and served as Secretary to the late US Senator Jesse Helms.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday July 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of the New Hope Church of God with the Rev. Charlie Asby officiating. Burial will follow at Hookerton Methodist Church in Hookerton.  The family will receive friends and family at the church one hour before the service in the church sanctuary.

Frances is survived by her husband, James Rentz; Brothers, Durwood Smith and Bunny Smith; grandchildren, Chris Cartrette, Ryan Cartrette, and Jordan Cartrette Stancil great grandchildren, Radian Cartrette. Uncle N.T. Holland Also surviving are special friends Jean Adams and Wanda Johnson.
