Eva “Sally” Prewett Hayes, 92, passed away Thursday, February 22nd at Helping Hands Assisted Living. Born in Paulding County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Jack Gulledge and Laura Elizabeth Prewett Gulledge and wife of the late Thomas Eugene “Gabby” Hayes. She was also preceded in death by a son, James Cantrell. Sally and Gabby operated a greenhouse business for many years on Old Grantham Road.
Her love for her family and friends was endless. Throughout the bible God reminded us to love one another and help others; this is how Sally wanted to be remembered.
Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held Monday, February 26th, at 11:00 am in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Rev. Dwayne Keener officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will greet friends at the grave following the committal service and at other times will be at the home, 112 Ferrell Drive, Goldsboro, NC.
Sally is survived by her sons, Michael (Tracy) Hayes, Trenton Cantrell; a daughter in law, Cheryl Cantrell; grandchildren, Shawn Cantrell, Kevin Hayes, Nicky Cantrell Plummer, Jamie Hayes; great grandchildren, Ashli Cantrell, Gage Cantrell, Michael Plummer, Cody Cantrell and great great grandchildren, Mariah and Michael Dodd.
