Eunice (Gurley) Lytton

Eunice Gurley Lytton (Our Precious Angel), age 76, of Seven Springs, passed peacefully on Thursday, July 17th at Wayne UNC Healthcare.  Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late William G. Gurley and Doris Creel Gurley, formerly of Seven Springs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earsel “Bud” Lytton and a son, Jimmy Holmes, Jr.

A beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Eunice never met a stranger and always enjoyed canning jams and jellies and sharing them with family, friends and even strangers. She has enjoyed the past ten years visiting the beach and spending time with a very special friend, Jerry Scott of Hampstead, NC.

A graveside service to celebrate Eunice’s  life will be held at 10:00 AM, Sunday, July 20th, at Pineview Cemetery near Seven Springs with Pastor Namon Batts officiating. The family will greet friends at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home on Saturday, July 19th between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 PM.

Eunice is survived by a daughter, Carol Holmes Carter and her husband, Johnnie; a grandson, Jonathon Carter; a sister, Rachel Shade and her husband, Shade; and a brother, William Gurley, Jr. and Jeff Millis.
