Elizabeth T. Schaap, 86, went to Heaven on September 24, 2021 at Brookdale Assisted Living on Country Day Road. Born in Marion, Virginia on July 18, 1935, she was the daughter of Charles William and Emile Groseclose Thomas. She was a member of Adamsville Baptist Church, a civil service secretary at four Air Force bases from 1966-1980, and a volunteer at the Seymour Johnson Base Pharmacy for nine years.
Elizabeth is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Ronald Peters of Princeton, NC, and Linda and Glenn Sergeant of San Angelo, TX; one sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Dwane Broyles; and four grandchildren, Bekah Peters, Andrew Peters (BJ), Dr. David Sergeant (Jessica), and Leah Longbrake (Terrance); and three great grandchildren, Elizabeth Sergeant, Daniel Sergeant, and Benjamin Longbrake.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bill Schaap; a sister, Barbara Moss; brother, James E. Thomas, III and a grandson, Benjamin Sergeant.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 29, at 11:00 AM at Adamsville Baptist Church with Pastor Pete Williams officiating. A private family committal service will be held at Wayne Memorial Park.
